Teeny, tiny hat pattern

A friend recently asked me for a crochet pattern that I *know* I had put on the blog, but can I find it anywhere? No, I can't.

Luckily, it was still on my computer, so here it is...

This is a little hat suitable for Upon Butterfly Wings...I love it because it's so quick to work up, which means more hats for tiny babies.

It's written in British Crochet terms, if you're used to using American terms, just substitute tr for DC (it's a fairly simply pattern)

Round 1: Ch3, sl st into 3rd chain from hook to form loop.
Round 2: Ch 2 (this is your first treble crochet), work 11 tr into loop, join round using sl st into your first tr. (12 st in round)
Round 3: Ch2, [tr in next st, 2 tr in next stitch] 6 times, join round using sl st into your first tr. (18st)
Round 4: Ch2, [tr in next 2 sts, 2 tr in next stitch] 6 times, join round using sl st into your first tr. (24st)
Round 5-7: Ch2, tr in each st around,  join round using sl st into your first tr. (24st)

Fasten off and sew in the ends.

If you're wanting a slightly bigger hat, you can add an extra increase round after Round 4 {Ch2, [tr in next 3 sts, 2 tr in next stitch] 6 times, join round using sl st into your first tr. (36st)}

No pictures!

Typical of me...I've made some personalised tree decorations and given them to the recipient before taking any pictures!

Luckily, it's only my sister so I can nip 'round and take some pictures once her tree is up.

She loved them :-)  Just hope she likes the stockings that I'm working on as much!

Busy busy busy

With Christmas approaching, I've been so busy with festive projects! This week it's decorations with a few presents being worked on too.

Here's a quick picture of some of the decorations I've finished :-)

Sorry!

I have, somewhat, been neglecting this blog for a while and I can only apologise for that but I do have a very good reason...

I've been suffering from the dreaded morning sickness as I am currently pregnant with my 3rd child.

But...I am mostly feeling better now and have got my crafting mojo back! The sewing machine is coming out tonight and we'll see what we come up with! :-)

Another London Make!

My friend was took her niece to visit London for the past couple of days and she asked me just before if I could make a bag for her in the same fabric as my little boy's waistcoat.

After a quick search through my patterns, I found the Buttercup Bag on the Made by Rae blog, perfect!

I made the strap longer (to be worn across the chest) and omitted the button embellishment and my friend loved it (and her niece!)

I certainly enjoyed making the bag but I took my time and didn't rush, so I'm sure that's why.

London Waistcoat

With all the Jubilee celebrations that have been going on and the forthcoming London Olympics, partriotic fabric has been available in abundance. And as my 4-year-old is a big fan of all things to do with the capital, I thought it only fair that he should have something made.

And here it is:

Made from the Makower London Icons fabric...perfect for my little boy:

Appliqué Dress Finished!

After my sneak preview a couple of days ago, I've finished little birdie appliqué dress, and here it is:

It has a fully-lined bodice with a pretty appliqué design, button fastening at the back and a gathered gingham skirt, which complements the appliqué.

Buttonholes were new to me but a video on YouTube (4 step buttonhole) soon put me in the right direction and after a few practice holes, I felt confident enough put them on the dress.

I have other designs coming too so keep an eye out for those :)

Lovely Day

It's been lovely here today, so I've been out in the garden re-potting some plants...hopefully it won't be long before we're eating our own tomatoes (and other veg!)

The boys have been having a great drawing session, which allowed me to spend a while making fabric covered buttons.

I always think that fabric covered buttons make an item look just a little more special :)

A Sneak Peek...

Another miserable day here, dull & rainy!

But, I've been working on a couple of projects so I thought I'd give a bit of a sneaky peek at one.

I'm loving applique at the moment and I'm particularly pleased with this little birdie :)

Blogging on the go

I've just recently discovered that you can easily post to a blog from your phone, so this is what I'm doing to test it out! :)

It's a wet and windy day here so we're having a house day. My 2 boys are engrossed in Ben 10 whilst I sort out some of my craft stuff.

My eldest has a party to go to this afternoon but, unfortunately, there was no time to make a gift so I'm going to have to dip into the "present bag" today (always have a supply of children's gifts handy, just in case)

And We're Back!

I've decided to resurrect this blog!

It's been a long time but I'm ready to breathe new life into it and start afresh. I've recently become a SAHM (Stay At Home Mum) and I'm planning a little business venture that I'm hoping will make for interesting blogging.

There'll be more about that later but right now I'm just looking forward to blogging again.
